Bosham Border

The western fringe where Fishbourne meets Bosham, with rural lanes and harbour-edge footpaths connecting the two.

The western edge of Fishbourne borders the parish of Bosham, and the transition between the two settlements is barely perceptible along the A259. The border area includes the fields and lanes between the two villages, which retain a rural character and provide pleasant walking. Bosham itself is one of the most historic villages in Sussex, with a Saxon church depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry and a tidal quayside that attracts visitors from across the region. The proximity of Bosham is one of the advantages of living in Fishbourne, providing an additional pub, a beautiful harbour walk, and a connection to the deeper layers of harbour history. The footpaths between Fishbourne and Bosham follow the harbour edge and the lanes behind the A259, providing a walking route that avoids the main road. The route passes through flat farmland with views across the harbour and is one of the better ways to appreciate the landscape between the two villages. The railway links the two as well, with Bosham station the next stop west on the Coastway line. The trains run frequently enough to make popping to Bosham by rail a practical option for an evening meal at the Anchor Bleu or a walk along the quayside.
