Salthill Road Area
Quiet residential road leading to the Roman Palace, with larger houses and access to the countryside beyond.
Salthill Road runs westward from the village towards the Roman Palace and the fields beyond. The road provides access to the palace and to the residential streets in the western part of Fishbourne. The character is quieter than the A259 corridor, with a mix of older and newer properties along its length. The Roman Palace entrance is on Salthill Road, and the road carries visitor traffic during opening hours. Outside these times, Salthill Road is a quiet residential street. The houses along it include some of the larger properties in the village, set back from the road with established gardens. Beyond the palace, the road gives way to lanes that lead towards the harbour and the open countryside. The transition from village to countryside is quick, and the walks accessible from the western end of Salthill Road include routes towards Bosham and the harbour shore. The area has a slightly different feel from the rest of the village, influenced by the presence of the palace and the proximity to open land. It is one of the quieter parts of Fishbourne and benefits from being away from the A259.
