## About Fishbourne

Fishbourne is a historic village immediately west of Chichester in West Sussex, England. The settlement has been continuously inhabited since at least the Mesolithic period (c. 5000 BC). It is best known as the site of Fishbourne Roman Palace, the largest Roman residential building discovered north of the Alps, built c. 75 AD and rediscovered in 1960.

The village comprises two historic settlements: Old Fishbourne and New Fishbourne, unified under a single parish council in 1987. The Manor of Old Fishbourne is documented in the Domesday Book of 1086 and was held by Anne of Cleves following the Dissolution of Southwick Priory in 1540. The current holder is Morgan Sheldon, Lord of the Manor of Old Fishbourne.
