Trains from Fishbourne

Fishbourne railway station and rail connections

Fishbourne has its own railway station on the Coastway West line, served by Southern Railway. The station sits on the northern edge of the village, on Fishbourne Road, and provides direct services to Chichester, Bosham, Emsworth, Havant, and Portsmouth to the east, and to Barnham, Ford, and Brighton to the west.

The journey to Chichester takes just three minutes, making the train a practical alternative to driving for trips to the city centre. Portsmouth is approximately thirty minutes by train, and Brighton about an hour and a quarter. For services to London, passengers change at either Chichester, Barnham, or Havant, depending on the service, with through trains to London Victoria available from Chichester and Barnham.

The station is unstaffed and has a single platform serving trains in both directions. There is no ticket office, so passengers should buy tickets before boarding or use contactless payment. The platform is accessible and has a shelter, though the facilities are basic compared to larger stations. A small car park serves the station.

Services run roughly every thirty minutes during the day, with the first trains in the early morning and the last services in the late evening. Sunday services are less frequent. The timetable has remained broadly stable for years, and the Coastway West line is one of the more reliable routes in the Southern network.

For commuters, Fishbourne station offers an alternative to driving into Chichester or using the A27 corridor, and the short journey time makes it a genuinely useful local transport link. The station's existence is one of the practical advantages of living in Fishbourne compared to villages without a rail connection.
