Great Storm damages the Fishbourne area

undefined

The Great Storm of October 1987 caused significant damage across southern England, and the Fishbourne area was not spared. Winds of over 100 mph brought down trees, damaged roofs, and disrupted power and transport for days. The mature trees in the harbour area, the churchyard, and the village gardens were particularly affected. The storm reshaped the landscape of the coastal plain and the harbour shore, and some of the damage to the tree canopy took decades to recover.
