Roman garden replanted at the palace

undefined

The formal Roman garden at Fishbourne Palace was replanted in the 1990s based on archaeological evidence from the excavation. The bedding trenches, paths, and water features revealed during the dig were used to recreate the garden layout, with plants chosen from species known to have been available in Roman Britain. The replanted garden gives visitors an impression of the palace's original setting and is the earliest known garden in Britain.
