South Downs National Park designated
undefined
The South Downs National Park was formally designated in 2010, covering the chalk downland that rises north of Fishbourne and Chichester. The national park boundary runs close to the northern edge of the Fishbourne area, providing an additional layer of landscape protection to the downs. The designation brought increased resources for conservation, access, and recreation on the downs, and reinforced the area's status as one of the most attractive landscapes in southern England.
