Winter flooding affects the coastal plain

undefined

The winter of 2013-14 brought prolonged heavy rainfall that saturated the coastal plain and caused widespread surface water flooding across the Chichester district. Fishbourne experienced waterlogging and localised flooding, though the village was less severely affected than some lower-lying areas closer to the harbour. The floods highlighted the vulnerability of the coastal plain to extreme weather and the limitations of the drainage infrastructure.
